This class is an extension of the MITRE ATT&CK matrix and represents an attacker abusing SMB service misconfiguration.
SMB misconfigurations are improper settings or configurations in the SMB protocol, which is used for file sharing. Examples include using outdated SMB versions, allowing anonymous access, and using weak passwords. Such misconfigurations can make it easier for an adversary to gain access to files on the share.
Mitigations: Turning off SMBv1, regularly patching the SMB server, turning off guest/anonymous access, and using strong passwords to control access to shared content, can all contribute towards safeguarding data shared via SMB.
